Big Bertha Diablo hybrids are outfitted with several core technologies, including both relatively new innovations and technologies that have stood the test of time. The clubs' Variable Face Thickness (VFT) technology, for instance, allows Callaway engineers to adjust the face thickness to maximize the ball speed and perimeter weighting of the club. This produces even more distance and forgiveness, a must when trying to eek out a few extra yards from the fairway on long par 4s and 5s. With VFT in place, the club is thicker in the center and ultra-thin around the edges, allowing the clubface to transfer more energy to the ball at the moment of impact. Another crucial improvement comes in the form of the S2H2 design, a patented technology that shortens the length of the hosel and allows Callaway to move the weight lower and to the more useful perimeter weight of the clubhead.
